Please join local treatment providers and those affected by an eating disorder at a free event in Lansing. As a kick off to National Eating Disorders Awareness Week a short press briefing will be held at the capitol to raise awareness for eating disorder treatment and coverage in Michigan. We need your presence and support to spread this message! Miss America 2008, Kirsten Haglund will be present at the event to discuss her experience with an eating disorder.

Pro-Anorexia Outlawed in France

The law in France has been around since spring. It has been a topic of hot debate. I would love to hear your thoughts, as there are many sides to this issue.
Here is the background: French lawmakers passed a bill making it illegal for anyone to promote “extreme thinness.” The law is aimed at pro-anorexia web sites, but includes fashion magazines, blogs, and advertisements. Under the proposed law, judges would be able to imprison individuals for up to three years or fine those violating the law up to 45,000 euros if found guilty.
