Mindfullness Opposes Fat Princess: Fistful of Cake PlayStation game
I was appalled to learn about Titan Studios’ new game: Fat Princess: Let them Eat Cake. The game’s publisher is Sony Computer Entertainment. The game is made for the PlaySation.
The point of the game is rescue the princess from kidnappers. The characters attempt to save the princess by making her too fat for her kidnappers to carry. They do so by searching for cake and navigating the enemy to feed to her. When the princess is given the cake she visibly gains a great deal of weight.
This game fails to promote size acceptance (FALSE: All sizes and shapes can be healthy and are beautiful).
It also sends a dangerous message that eating a certain food-cake-will immediately make someone gain a great deal of weight (FALSE: Eating a wide variety of foods, all types, in moderation is healthy eating).
Furthermore, the game mocks fat people. It is wrong to stigmatize, make fun of and make assumptions about people of any weight. We should be moving toward acknowledging beauty and health in all sizes and shapes.
This game takes a huge step backwards on all of these fronts. Help Mindfullness protest,
