Your journey is unique and personal
Here's the hard truth: LGBTQIA+ people are more likely to experience discrimination, harassment and denial of services compared to the general population.
But not at Mindfullness. You can count on us to support you through your entire journey with a safe, inclusive space to heal, grow and reclaim a healthy relationship with food and your body.

Eating disorder signs
Is often characterized by an intense fear of gaining weight and a distorted body image.
This can include the pressure to conform to an ideal body type and also gender dysphoria and identity.

Bulimia nervosa involves binge eating followed by purging to avoid weight gain.
Often this occurs as a response to trauma, stress or pressure to conform to body type.
Involves eating large amounts of food in a short period and includes feelings of loss of control, distress, or guilt.
Many times it is in response to expressing emotions in a healthy way.
ARFID is a lack of interest in eating or avoiding certain foods, often due to sensitivities or negative experiences related to food.
It can result in nutritional deficiencies and may impact physical health.
Services for different care needs
At Mindfullness, we provide a variety of services tailored to the needs of our LGBTQIA+ clients. Here’s how we help:
-
One-on-one therapy: You'll work with a therapist experienced in treating those in the LGBTQIA+ community with eating disorders. The goal is to help you understand your relationship with food and begin to heal in a supportive, understanding environment.

-
Family therapy: Eating disorders affect the whole family, even if that family doesn't share DNA. Sessions with your loved ones will help them learn how to best support you, open the lines of communication and work together toward recovery.
